1. Project Description#

The objective of this project is to reproduce the wind flow properties over the two-dimensional slope, as measured in wind tunnel by [1]. One convective time scale is defined as \(CTS = H / U_{H}\).

2. Simulation Setup#

The Synthetic Eddy Method (SEM) boundary condition is applied at the inlet of the computational domain. Solid fins are distributed across the floor to ensure the desired velocity and turbulence profiles during flow development length. A Neumann boundary condition is applied at the remaining boundaries.

The position 0 of the slope is positioned \(144H\) from inlet, and 5 grid refinement levels (\(lvl\,0\) to \(lvl\,4\)) were adopted:

3. Inflow#

The inflow profile is taken at position \(-5H\). The spectrum is read at inflow position for at height \(H\).

4. Results: Velocity and Turbulence Profiles#

The Speed-up factor is the ratio between the velocity at the given position and the reference inflow velocity at the same height relative to the ground.
